Based in London, Richard is responsible for all new and existing cobrand, distribution and rewards partnerships within American Express’ proprietary-issued consumer card business outside of the United States.
Richard joined American Express in 1999 as European Director of Travel Agency Relationships in the Global Commercial Card division, before moving over to International Consumer Services in 2001. Over the past 9 years, Richard has played a significant role in building the company’s international business, signing and developing a number of market-leading cobrand and Membership Rewards partnerships, including with many of the world’s major frequent flyer and loyalty programmes.
Prior to joining American Express, Richard spent nearly 10 years in the oil industry with Texaco, based in New York, Bratislava, Brussels, London and Zagreb. Throughout this period, he held a variety of roles in the areas of strategy, sales management, business development and general management, predominantly covering the markets of Central/Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
Richard originally hails from Boston and holds a BSc in Business Administration from Bryant University, an MBA in International Management from Boston College and has studied at the ICADE School of Business in Madrid.
